The 2019 Art Showcase was a huge success! 

Armuchee High School Senior Wins Kiwanis Club of Rome’s Art Showcase
 
With a scratchboard art entry, entitled Moo’ving On, Armuchee senior, Harper Buffington, captures the Best of Show title and a $1000 educational scholarship in the Art Showcase hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Rome.  Taking the 2nd and 3rd scholarship spots were Model sophomore Alexis Peed and Pepperell sophomore Jaiden Mickley.  Winners of Kiwanis’ Art Showcase were announced during a reception for students, their families and art teachers held at the Rome-Floyd County Library.  
First, second and third place winners were named for each grade and are listed in that order below:
6th grade:  Christanna Schwartz, Billie McClanahan and Autumn Smith (all East Central).
9th grade:  Kelsie Burkett (Armuchee), Ambria Ludwig (Model) and Kyndal Talton (Model).  Molley Maddox (Model) received an Honorable Mention.
10th grade:  Alexis Peed (Model), Jaiden Mickley (Pepperell) and Jewell Sweat (Model).  Bella McCauley (Pepperell) received an Honorable Mention.
11th grade: Allison Jackson (Armuchee), Noah Voils (Model), Morgan Davis (Pepperell).  Marli Clouatre (Pepperell) received an Honorable Mention.
12th grade: Harper Buffington (Armuchee), Harmony Knight (Pepperell), and Madison Taylor (Model).  Ashtyn Smith (Model) received an Honorable Mention.
Entries for the Art Showcase will remain on display in the library through April 12.
First-place winners and Best of Show winner will compete for awards or educational scholarships in Leesburg GA on April 27.

2019 Music Showcase

The 2019 Music Showcase was a wonderful event held at beautiful Berry College on March 16th.  ​

Pepperell High Student Quartet Wins Kiwanis Club of Rome’s Music Showcase

 
Singing a cappella a Steven Porter/Tom Gentry rendition of In the Still of the Night, the quartet of Pepperell High School students Darian Ball (senior) Blake Green (junior), Carter Nelson (sophomore) and Zach Payne (senior) claims the first-place $1000 scholarship award at the Kiwanis Club of Rome Music Showcase held at Berry College Ford Auditorium.  With this showcase win, the quartet will proceed to represent Rome Kiwanis at the Kiwanis District Showcase in Leesburg GA, a state-wide competition, on April 27.  The state-level competition accepts only 24 participants state-wide to vie for $7500 in scholarships.

​Second place in the showcase went to clarinet duo Kayla Hutcherson, senior at Armuchee High School and Sarah Locklear, senior at Rockmart High School.  They performed Duetto III, composed by Bernhard Crusell.   Third- place win went to Rosemari Hill, a senior at Unity Christian School, who sang Vanilla Ice Cream, composers, Sheldon Harnick/Jerry Bock.
